This-fire-test-response standard covers the determination of the specific optical density of smoke generated by solid materials and assemblies mounted in the verticle position in thicknesses up to and including 1 inch. Measurement is made of the attenuation of a light beam by smoke accumulating within a closed chamber due to nonflamming pyrolytic dexomposition and flamming combustion. Results are expressed in terms of specific optical density which is derived from a geometrical factor and the measured optical density, a measurement characteristic of the concentration of the smoke.
Most specifications require the optical density of smoke to be 450 or less for acceptance.
ALL the above features and MORE are found in the SMOKEDATA System.
